Tony Kearns - International Roll of Honour

Born in 1944, Tony joined the club at the age of 14.  By the time he reached his mid-twenties he realised he was more suited to longer distances and at the age of 28 entered his first marathon.  This was the start of a long career in which he represented Ireland starting in 1976 - he went on to earn ten team appearances, but narrowly missed Olympic selection both at the Montreal (1976) and Moscow (1980) games.

Sadly injuries have now curtailed his involvement, but he can boast a course record of 2hrs 25mins 16secs as a veteran at the U.K. National Veteran's Marathon Championships in 1984, with a lifetime best of 2hrs 16mins 43secs in 1976.
