County Schools, Corby

With places in the Mason Trophy Inter County Schools match up for grabs to athletes finishing in the top two at this event, sprint squad athletes put in some great performances to secure their places in the County team. The standout sprint performance of the day was by Dylan Mukhtar in the Intermediate Boys 100m. He powered away from the blocks, and maintained his form, to win the race in a time of 11.9 seconds. Berny Kwei-Tagoe, also competed in the 100m in the Junior Girls age group and finished 2nd in a new personal best of 13.1 seconds.

Erin Healy, competing in her preferred 200m event in the Intermediate Girls age group, finished 2nd in a time of 26.0 seconds, to qualify for the team. Also competing in the Intermediate Girls age groups was Alex Beale who finished 3rd in the 100m & 200m, producing a personal best to of 27.3 in the latter. She is now a reserve for both events and will have an anxious wait to find out if she is selected for the team. Also awaiting a call after finishing as a reserve is Ellen Smith, who competed in the Junior Girls 200m.

In the Intermediate Boys 400m, Henri Codling made the most of a late call up for the event by winning the race in a personal best time of 56.4 seconds to ensure progression to the Mason Trophy.

In the Middle Distance events there was a comfortable win for Emily Williams in the 1500m, and Poppy Carmichael ensured progression to the Mason Trophy by finishing in 2nd place in the 800m. Also in the 800m Jack Watson enjoyed a good race with a strong finish for 3rd place. Josh Cannell finished in 2nd place in the 3k, but will see his place taken with club colleague Fynn Batkin who appealed successfully for the 3k Mason trophy, and Dylan Bowley will also join him after a successful appeal for the Junior Boys 800m

Multi eventer, Matilda Braithwaite, produced a personal best throw of 21.57 in the Junior Girls discus to finish 2nd to join her squad members on the County team.

Midland U20 & Senior Championships, Nuneaton

Blustery conditions didn't stop Emmanuel Mbu from putting in some creditable runs in his debut at the Midland Championships. Emmanuel, who only joined the Harriers in February, has been making fast progress this season. He competed in the 100m and 200m and was able to produce personal best, automatic times, of 11.42 in the 100m, and 23.26 in the 200m.
