Sprint Squad Roundup

Club Connect Relays
In previous years, it has been the girls who have qualified to compete at this meeting, however, this year, it was the U13 and U17 boys 4 x 100m relay teams who were selected to compete. The meeting is an opportunity for some of the top ranked club 4 x 100m relay teams to compete against each other, with a prize of £250 going to the winning team in each age group on the day. The races were held just before the Diamond League meeting on Sunday at Alexander Stadium, Birmingham.

The U13 team included Kayenne Pryce, William Rawlinson, Dylan White, & William Robertson. They were ranked 69th in the UK prior to this and were up against stiff competition. They had a superb run & finished 4th on the day in a new club record of 54.45 seconds. They ended the day ranked 55th in the UK.

The U17 boys were ranked 51st in the UK at the start of the meeting. The team included Cole Sinnott, Max Mowforth, Joe Bradley, & Logan Reid. Like many GB teams over the years, their first changeover did not go as planned, and, although they put in a good effort to recover from that, they finished in 7th place in a time of 44.59 seconds. The disappointment of finishing in that position was short lived as they had set a new club record & are now ranked 42nd in the UK.

A special mention to Jack Abbott (U17) & Kirani Pryce (U13) who both travelled with the teams as reserves and were both able to benefit from the experience. The teams ended the day watching the Diamond League meeting, getting autographs, and having their photos taken with many of the international athletes who had competed on the day, including Shaunae Miller-Uibo, Katerina Johnson-Thompson, and Yohan Blake.

Well done to all of the athletes who competed on the day. You were all a credit to the Harriers.
